Hello, welcome to Mee a Bee
Mee a Bee is a small home-based company in Osaka, Japan.
The designer behind the label is Jacqui Miyabayashi, a New Zealander living in Japan:
I am work-from home mum, with two sons aged (almost) three and seven years old. My kids are like chalk and cheese in their personalities but they are both most definitely BOYS. I love making things for girls but I guess my sensibilities as the mum of two boys means they are not too frilly and girly.
The kids are the test models for all my bags although they detest having their photos taken! Mee a Bee is my creative indulgence in this house full of smelly sneakers, bats and balls. Since I have boys I really try to find designs that they will like too. It's hard though, finding cute fabrics for them that don't revolve around commercial action figures.
I've tried to encourage my kids to be active and curious about the world. I restrict their television viewing instead providing books and educational toys when I can. Bags are a big part of imaginary play in our home (of course). Especially my little one always needs a bag to complete his costume.
Mee a Bee bags are fun and colourful. I like to think they feed children's imaginations with their whimsical prints. They make a great addition to the kids' toy box but are also useful and functional. Do you have a kid who always wants to take his precious car, teddy or toy robot along wherever he goes? I do!
The designs and fabrics change often at Mee a Bee. Most styles are produced in small runs so you can be sure you are getting something unique. I am more than happy to create an absolute one-off for you if you like.
